What it is

A heavily layered, shaggy shape in fine light hair, with a wispy blunt fringe sitting at the brow and long ragged lengths spilling down the back well past the shoulder line. Above the ear the side is shaved into a clean disconnected undercut, cut hard so the shag drops over it as a distinct panel. Nothing about the transition is blended; the contrast is deliberate.

Who it suits

For fine to medium hair that will hold a shag without collapsing under its own weight. Choose it if you want a soft, lived-in top with a hard technical edge underneath, and if you are happy to wear the undercut visible when the hair is tucked. Works with straight and lightly wavy textures.

How to ask for it

Ask for a disconnected undercut at the side, a 1 taken clean from above the ear up to a defined line, with no blending into the top. Above it, keep long layers running to the back, a wispy fringe cut at the brow, and heavy point-cutting through the ends.

Upkeep

Air dry with a texture spray and scrunch the ends. The undercut needs a clipper touch-up every three weeks; the shag layers can go eight to ten weeks before they need re-cutting.
