What it is

Natural curl kept short and dense on top with a textured fringe falling forward onto the forehead, sides tightened into a low blend that runs clean past the ear, and the back left long so the curls stack and coil down onto the neck. The transition from short side to long back happens sharply behind the ear, which gives the shape its wing.

Who it suits

Made for naturally curly or wavy hair with enough spring to keep the back from hanging flat. Good if you want a mullet that still looks contained from the front. Pairs well with a moustache or light stubble, and the forward fringe softens a higher hairline without hiding it entirely.

How to ask for it

Ask for a low blend on the sides, a 1 at the bottom carried up to a 2 with no visible line, stopping behind the ear. Leave the back long from the occipital down. Keep the top around two inches, cut dry into the curl, with a short forward fringe.

Upkeep

Use a curl cream on damp hair and scrunch, no brushing when dry. Sides need tidying every four weeks, the back only when it starts sitting on the shoulders.
