Even Loc Set With Low Skin Fade
- Difficulty
- INTERMEDIATE
- Hair Type
- Wavy to coily hair, set locs
What it is
Uniform locs of medium thickness, all falling forward and down in a smooth curtain that covers the forehead and breaks around the ear. Below the loc line the sides run into a low skin fade that clears the ear entirely and blends up through the nape. The parting is regular and visible from above, and each loc has a smooth, compacted surface rather than a fuzzy one.
Who it suits
Works for wavy to coily hair with locs that have set and smoothed out. If you like your locs hanging rather than standing, this shape holds that line. The low fade keeps the sides quiet, which is useful for anyone in a workplace where a high or bald fade would read too aggressive.
How to ask for it
Ask for a low skin fade beginning just below the level of the ear opening, taken to skin at the bottom and blended up through 0.5 and 1 to meet the locs. Keep the fade line low and level all the way around the back. No length off the locs, root maintenance only.
Upkeep
Retwist on a five-to-six week cycle and palm-roll to keep the surface smooth. Wash every two weeks and use minimal product so nothing builds up inside the loc. Fade refresh every two weeks.
