What it is

Straight hair worn long at the front, blow-dried up and combed back into a smooth rolling quiff that keeps its comb marks and holds height above the forehead. The sides drop into a mid skin fade that goes bare at the bottom and climbs cleanly to just above the temple. Around the crown the length shortens gradually so the back stays flat against the head.

Who it suits

Best on straight, medium-density hair that takes a blow-dry and holds a comb line. Choose it if you want a polished, deliberate finish rather than a messy one. The height suits a rounder face by lengthening the silhouette, and the mid fade keeps the sides narrow without going too severe.

How to ask for it

Ask for a mid skin fade: bald at the bottom, blending through 0.5, 1 and 1.5, with the fade line sitting just above the top of the ear. Keep three to four inches at the front, tapering shorter toward the crown, scissor-cut with a soft weight line at the fringe.

Upkeep

Blow-dry back over a comb and set with a firm-hold pomade. The skin fade grows out visibly, so book every two weeks; the top holds its shape for about six.
