Fade
Mid Skin Fade With Blunt French Crop
- Difficulty
- INTERMEDIATE
- Hair Type
- coarse coily, high density
What it is
The top is cut short and blunt with a straight fringe edge across the forehead, French crop style, held tight against the head rather than lifted. Below, the mid fade opens level with the temple and clears to skin at the base and behind the ear. A step is cut at the temple corner where the fringe meets the fade, so the front reads as a clean rectangle. A shaped, connected beard picks the outline back up at the jaw.
Who it suits
For dense, short-cropped coily or coarse wavy hair that lies flat. The blunt fringe covers a receding front and shortens a tall forehead; it suits oval and long faces most. Fine hair will show scalp through the fringe. Skip if you like your hairline high, because this deliberately brings the front down.
How to ask for it
Say mid skin fade, open it at the temple and take it bald at the base and behind the ear. Ask for a blunt crop fringe cut straight across the forehead, with a stepped corner at the temple. Request the beard lined at the cheek and connected into the fade.
Upkeep
Two weeks. The skin base and the fringe edge both go soft quickly. Keep the fringe combed forward and dry, and edge the beard cheek line at home between cuts.
