Fade
Temple Fade With High Afro And Shadow Blend
- Difficulty
- ADVANCED
- Hair Type
- 4B coily, very high density
What it is
The largest silhouette in the set. A tall, wide afro is left full through the crown and back, picked out to a rounded shape well above the head, while the fade is restricted to the temple and the area just above the ear, blending as a soft shadow with no skin. That restraint keeps the afro reading as one continuous mass instead of a top separated from the sides. The front line-up is cut sharp and low, and a short beard connects at the cheek.
Who it suits
Demands thick 4B to 4C coils with the length and density to build real volume. The height and width flatter long, narrow faces and a slim jaw. Thinning at the crown or a receding front will show as gaps in the outline. If you need a low-profile cut for work or a helmet, this is not it.
How to ask for it
Ask for a temp fade at the temples and just above the ear only, blended soft with no skin and nothing taken off the back. Say leave the afro full and shape it round with the shears, keep the height. Request a sharp low line-up across the front and the beard connected at the cheek.
Upkeep
Three to four weeks for the temple and line-up. The outline loses its round before the fade goes. Pick from the roots daily, deep condition weekly, and protect it at night to avoid a flattened side.
