Fade
Blowout Temp Fade With Curly Top
- Difficulty
- INTERMEDIATE
- Hair Type
- Tight coily hair with strong spring
What it is
A temple fade that opens up at the corner and lets the top stay full. The barber drops the guard right at the temple, blends it back over the ear, and leaves the coils on top untouched so the crown keeps its height. Weight sits high and toward the back, giving the silhouette a rounded blowout shape. The front line-up is cut square across the forehead with a clean corner, which is what keeps the fullness from reading as unkempt.
Who it suits
Best on tight coils with real spring to them, since the top has to hold shape on its own. Longer face shapes get balance from the width up top; narrower heads get presence. It reads young and current without needing product every morning. Anyone who wants length but hates a heavy, sloppy outline will get on with this one.
How to ask for it
Ask for a temp fade only, no guard higher than a 1 at the temple, blended into a 2 behind the ear and left longer up the back. Tell the barber to keep the top completely uncut and just shape the perimeter. Line the front square with a sharp corner at the temple, and taper the neck rather than blocking it.
Upkeep
Line-up every ten days keeps it sharp. Moisturize the coils nightly and pick them out at the root for lift. Skip heavy grease, which flattens the crown and kills the blowout shape.
