Fade
Temple Fade With Coily Top And Squared Line-Up
- Difficulty
- INTERMEDIATE
- Hair Type
- 4B coily, high density
What it is
The fade is concentrated at the temple and around the ear only, leaving the back and crown full, which is what separates a temp fade from a full mid. The clipper work opens a clean crescent at the corner and blends down to near skin behind the ear, while the coils above stay dense and untouched. A hard squared line-up cuts across the forehead with a sharp step at the temple. Full beard is edged in and connected to the sideburn.
Who it suits
For 4A to 4C coils with a strong, low hairline that can take a squared block. It flatters round and square faces because the temple detail narrows the upper face. A high or receding hairline exposes the block and works against it. Good choice if you want to keep length but want a clean frame.
How to ask for it
Ask for a temp fade at the temples and around the ears only, leave the back and top full. Say blend the temple down to near skin and keep the crescent clean at the corner. Request a hard squared line-up across the front with a stepped temple and the beard edged at the cheek.
Upkeep
Two weeks. The temple crescent and the line-up soften first while the top holds. Moisturize the coils daily and keep the beard cheek line straight between visits.
