Spinner Waves Low Taper
- Difficulty
- ADVANCED
- Hair Type
- Coily hair with a crown spin
What it is
The pattern here spins tight out of a single crown point, with fine, closely spaced rows that stay compact instead of stretching wide. The hair is kept very short so the ripples read as texture across the whole head. Sides run into a low taper that darkens under the temple and clears to skin behind the ear and at the nape. A crisp squared line-up caps the front and the temple line drops in a clean straight edge.
Who it suits
Best for coily hair with a natural spin at the crown and a compact wave pattern. Because the hair is kept short, this is the right stage for anyone building waves without wolfing out. The low taper keeps the sides conservative and lets the pattern stay visible around the ear, and it flatters most head shapes.
How to ask for it
Ask for a low taper over trained waves: a half guard around the ear taken to skin at the nape, with the taper line kept below the temple so the pattern is not cut off. Top brushed and cut short with a one guard open lever. Squared line-up front and temple.
Upkeep
Brush twice a day in the direction of the spin, morning and night. Wear a durag or wave cap to sleep. Light pomade after showers, and re-taper every two weeks without touching the crown.
