Fade
Mid Fade With Short Wavy Crop And Boxed Front
- Difficulty
- INTERMEDIATE
- Hair Type
- coarse wavy, medium-high density
What it is
Short all over, with a wavy top clipped down close so the natural wave shows as texture instead of length, cut with a squared front edge and a blocked corner at the temple. The mid fade drops in at ear level and blends down to a very light skin behind the ear and at the nape. A trimmed full beard runs from the sideburn to the chin with a hard cheek line. The overall shape is compact and boxy rather than rounded.
Who it suits
Made for coarse wavy or loose curl of medium to high density that keeps texture when cut short. The squared front and beard suit narrow and oval faces by adding angle. It needs a strong forward hairline to carry the block. Fine hair reads as a plain buzz here and loses the wave detail.
How to ask for it
Ask for a mid fade starting at ear level, blended to a light skin at the nape. Say cut the top short, about a 2 with the texture left in, and square the front off with a blocked corner. Request a hard cheek line on the beard, connected to the sideburn.
Upkeep
Two to three weeks. The blocked front and the beard cheek line fade first. Very little product needed; a light cream on damp hair keeps the wave visible.
