Fade
Mid Fade With Shaved Part And Spiked Top
- Difficulty
- MASTER
- Hair Type
- straight to wavy, medium-coarse
What it is
A mid fade with a razored surgical part cut in above the ear, running from the front hairline back along the parietal ridge as a clean shaved line. Below it the sides drop away to a near-skin base; above it the top is left several inches long and spiked forward and up in separated points. The part gives a visible split between the tight side and the loose textured top. A trimmed full beard is faded into the sideburn.
Who it suits
Best on straight to lightly wavy medium hair with enough coarseness to spike. The vertical part and height suit round and diamond faces. Needs a clean scalp with no scarring along the part line. Very fine hair loses the spikes by midday, and fast growers will see the shaved part fuzz over within a week.
How to ask for it
Ask for a mid fade to near skin with a razored hard part cut from the hairline back along the ridge, about a blade width. Say keep three inches on top, point cut, styled forward and spiky. Request the beard faded into the sideburn and lined at the cheek.
Upkeep
Two weeks; the shaved part is the first thing to close. Matte clay worked through dry hair holds the spikes, and the part can be touched up at home with a trimmer edge.
