Kids Cornrows With Faded Sides

What it is
Straight-back cornrows cover the top, braided in even rows from the hairline to the crown and left to hang loose at the back. The sides are faded short beneath the braids so the ears and temples stay clean, with a squared line-up across the front. The braiding does the styling work — once the rows are in, the shape holds for days at a time with no morning routine at all.
Who it suits
A practical choice for kids with enough length on top to braid, especially through busy school weeks and sports seasons. Braids keep hair out of the way and protect it from breakage. The faded sides keep it looking barbered rather than simply grown out.
How to ask for it
Ask for straight-back cornrows on top with a mid fade on the sides underneath, a 0.5 at the bottom blending to a 2 where the braids begin. Set the fade line just above the ear. Request a square line-up at the front and ask the braider to keep the tension gentle at the hairline.
Upkeep
Oil the scalp along the parts twice a week and cover at night with a satin bonnet or scarf. Braids last two to three weeks; the fade will want a touch-up before the rows come out.
