Kids Textured Spiky Top With Mid Fade
- Difficulty
- BEGINNER
- Hair Type
- Straight to slightly wavy, medium density
What it is
A kid's cut with the top left long enough to spike and point forward, cut with texture through the ends so it separates instead of sitting as one block. The sides come up in a mid fade that blends around the ear and stays soft at the bottom rather than going to bare skin. The front is left with a natural, slightly free hairline so it grows out kindly between visits.
Who it suits
Good for a child with straight to slightly wavy hair that already stands up on its own, which means little to no product is needed to make it work. The mid fade keeps things tidy for school without being severe. It also grows out evenly, which helps if you can only get to the shop every month or so.
How to ask for it
Ask for a mid fade starting at a 1 above the ear and blending up to a 3, kept off the skin. On top, ask for it point-cut with scissors, left two inches or so, textured so it spikes. Tell the barber to keep the front hairline natural and not to line it out hard.
Upkeep
Rinse and towel dry, then finger a pea of matte paste through the top on school mornings if it needs help. A trim every four to five weeks holds the fade and the spike length.
