Kids Curl Top With High Drop Fade
- Difficulty
- ADVANCED
- Hair Type
- loose to tight curls, full on top
What it is
The top is left full of loose, open curls with a good amount of height, and the sides come down into a fade that sits high and drops sharply behind the ear, curving down to the nape. A crisp shape-up squares the front hairline and the temple corner, and the fade goes down close to skin at the lowest point, giving a strong contrast against the curl above.
Who it suits
For a child with curly or coily hair who wants a look with some presence to it. The high drop line keeps the sides very clean around the ears, which helps for school photos and sports. It does need a barber comfortable with a curved drop line, so it's worth booking a regular chair.
How to ask for it
Ask for the top left long and natural, no thinning. Sides taken to a 0.5 dropping behind the ear and curving to the nape, with the fade line sitting above the temple. Blend it up into the curl with a 2. Finish with a squared shape-up at the front and temple corner.
Upkeep
Two to three weeks to keep the drop line clean. Damp the curls in the morning, a small amount of leave-in through the top, and shake it out. Satin pillowcase helps overnight.
