Fade
High Skin Fade with Coiled Crop and Hard Front Line
- Difficulty
- INTERMEDIATE
- Hair Type
- 3B to 3C coily, medium density
What it is
A tight, uniform coil pattern is left short on top and cut level across, sitting on a high skin fade that goes bald from mid-ear upward and blends steeply into the coils. The front hairline is squared with a hard trimmer line and the temple drops in a clean vertical. Because the top is short and flat rather than lifted, the shape reads compact and close to the head, which distinguishes it from taller curl-top fades.
Who it suits
Suits medium-density 3B to 3C hair short enough that the coils stay tight. Good on long and oval faces since the flat top does not add height. Needs an even hairline to carry the hard front line. Anyone with a receding front corner will find the squared line-up draws attention straight to it.
How to ask for it
Ask for a high skin fade going bald from about mid-ear and blending steeply into a short top. Say to leave the coils on top around half an inch and cut level, then cut a hard squared line at the front hairline with the temple dropped straight down.
Upkeep
Every two weeks. The hard front line loses its edge quickest. Keep the top soft with a light leave-in and comb the coils forward when damp.
