Fade
Burst Fade Mohawk with Coily Length at the Back
- Difficulty
- MASTER
- Hair Type
- 4B to 4C coily, high density
What it is
A burst fade taken high above the ear on both sides, arcing back and leaving a wide strip of coily length running crown to nape, with the length actually increasing toward the back of the neck. The fade drops to skin at the temple and blends up into the coils with no visible line. A stepped line-up cuts in at the front. Unlike a plain burst, the back is never tapered off, giving the mohawk silhouette.
Who it suits
Requires dense 4A to 4C coils with enough length at the nape to hang. Best on longer and oval faces since the shape adds width behind and height above. A round face can carry it if the strip is kept narrow. Loose or fine curl patterns will not hold the mohawk shape and will look thin at the back.
How to ask for it
Ask for a burst fade taken high on both sides, skin at the temple, arcing around the ear and leaving the strip down the middle and the back untouched. Say you want the length at the nape kept long, no taper at the bottom, and a stepped line-up cut in at the front hairline.
Upkeep
Every two weeks to keep the burst arc reading clean. The temple skin fills in first. Moisturise the coils daily and sleep in a durag to keep the back from matting.
