Fade
High Fade With Brushed Coily Cap And Blocked Line-Up
- Difficulty
- ADVANCED
- Hair Type
- 4B coily, medium-high density
What it is
A high fade that opens up just above the temple and runs the whole side down to bare skin behind the ear, leaving a rounded cap of short brushed coils on top. The blend starts dark at the crown ridge and thins fast through the parietal, so the head reads narrow from the side. Front is squared off with a hard, blocked line-up across the forehead and a right-angle corner at the temple. Beard is kept as a light connected shadow rather than bulk.
Who it suits
Built for tight 4A to 4C coils with even density at the crown. Flatters oval and oblong faces, and slims a wider jaw because the sides disappear. Strong hairlines take the blocked corner well; anyone with recession at the temples will see it exaggerated by the hard edge. Skip it if the crown is thinning, since a high fade puts all the weight up top.
How to ask for it
Ask for a high fade starting a finger above the temple, bald at the bottom and blended out by the parietal ridge. Say leave the top short and even, about a 1.5 brushed, keep the round shape. Then ask for a hard blocked line-up with a square corner at the temple, and a light shadow beard connected to the sideburn.
Upkeep
Every 10 to 14 days; the line-up softens first and the bald section grows in as stubble inside a week. Brush the top daily and moisturize the exposed sides so the skin does not go ashy.
