Beard
Bald Head with Faded Chinstrap and Grey Goatee
- Difficulty
- BEGINNER
- Hair Type
- coarse coily beard, bald scalp
What it is
Head taken bald with a razor, with the beard doing all the work. Sideburn area is faded down to near-skin at the top and thickens as it drops toward the jaw, so nothing collides with the shaved scalp. From the jawline forward the beard fills out into a rounded chin with heavy grey through the centre. The cheek line sits low and follows the natural growth rather than being cut in straight, keeping the look worn-in instead of drawn on.
Who it suits
Made for thinning or receding hairlines where a fade would only draw attention to the crown. Works with any beard texture that will grow past an inch at the chin. Rounded and square faces benefit most, since the chin weight lengthens the profile. Skip it if your beard grows thin on the jaw, because there is no hair up top to balance the gap.
How to ask for it
Say bald with a foil shaver or razor all over, then fade the sideburn area from skin at the top into full beard length by the jaw. Ask for the cheek line left natural, not squared, chin left long, and the moustache scissor-trimmed off the lip line.
Upkeep
Head shave every three to five days, beard shaped every three weeks. Stubble on the scalp shows fastest. Balm the beard and moisturise the scalp after every shave.
