Wolfing Wave Ridges Bald Taper
- Difficulty
- MASTER
- Hair Type
- Coily hair grown out for waves
What it is
Grown out past the usual wave length, this one shows thick, raised ridges running back from a squared front line, with the rows deep enough to cast shadow. Extra length gives the pattern more travel across the top and down the back of the head. The sides are cut into a bald taper that clears skin around the ear and along the nape, so the heavy top pattern reads against a completely clean perimeter. A carved part line runs off the front corner.
Who it suits
For coily hair being deliberately wolfed to deepen the pattern before the next full cut. The extra length rewards anyone already brushing daily. The bald taper stops the grown-out top from looking untidy and keeps the cut sharp at work. Suits most head shapes, though the added height on top favours a wider face.
How to ask for it
Ask for a bald taper only, no clippers on top: skin around the ear and at the nape, blended up through a 1 and 2 into the wolfed length. Request the front line-up squared, a carved part line off the front corner, and the pattern brushed back before finishing.
Upkeep
Brush three times a day, since longer hair needs more work to hold the ridges. Moisturize before every brushing session, compress under a durag nightly, and re-taper the sides every two weeks.
