Waves
Wide Wave Pattern Crown Cut
- Difficulty
- INTERMEDIATE
- Hair Type
- Looser coily hair forming broad ridges
What it is
The ridges here are broader and flatter than a spinner, running in long sweeping rows that move back from the front hairline and wrap around the crown. Spacing is wide and consistent, which gives the top a rippled, almost woven appearance from above. The sides come in short and close with a defined temple corner squared at the front. No part is shaved in, so the pattern runs uninterrupted across the entire top.
Who it suits
Suits hair with a looser coil that naturally forms bigger ridges, and anyone who prefers a broad pattern to a tight one. It sits well on a wider head because the rows follow the crown outward. Practical for daily wear, and it photographs well under overhead light.
How to ask for it
Ask for an even wave cut at a 2 with the lever open on top, cut in one pass so the pattern is not broken up. Taper the sides down to a 1 around the ear and along the nape, keeping the temple corner square. Ask specifically for no hard part.
Upkeep
Brush with a medium boar brush along the direction of the rows, morning and night, and wrap after. Wash weekly with a moisturizing shampoo. Recut every three weeks.
