What it is
Fine mid-brown hair cut into a soft layered shag, with a piecey fringe falling to the brow and short choppy layers through the crown that lengthen into a tail at the nape. Above the ear a small panel is clipped short into a hidden undercut, exposed here but easily covered by dropping the layers over it. The overall finish is loose and unstructured, cut dry so nothing sits too even.
Who it suits
For fine to medium straight hair that needs the appearance of volume without heavy product. A practical pick if your workplace or routine means you sometimes want the undercut hidden. The fringe softens the forehead and the tail keeps some length at the neck without committing to long hair.
How to ask for it
Ask for a soft shag with short crown layers running long into a nape tail, and a piecey fringe cut to the brow. Add a hidden undercut above the ear, a 1 taken in a small panel only, kept small enough that the layers cover it when brushed down.
Upkeep
Rough dry and finish with a light texture spray; skip heavy creams, which flatten fine hair. Clipper the undercut every three weeks and re-cut the layers roughly every eight.
