Fade
Mid Temple Fade With Tall Coily Box Top
- Difficulty
- ADVANCED
- Hair Type
- 4C coily, very high density
What it is
The volume here is deliberate. A tall, squared box of dense coils sits high off the crown while the fade starts at the temple and blends down the side into a short dark base with no skin. The sides are cut close enough to make the box read square from the profile, and the corner of the box lines up with the corner of the line-up. Front hairline is edged straight, and the beard is kept as a short even shadow so nothing competes with the height.
Who it suits
For 4B to 4C coils with the density and stiffness to stand tall without collapsing. The height suits round and full faces and adds presence to a short neck. Weak crown coverage or soft coil will not build the box. If you want low upkeep, choose a shorter cap version instead, since a box needs picking every day.
How to ask for it
Ask for a mid temple fade, start at the temple, blend down to a short dark base with no skin. Say leave the top tall and square it off flat across the top and down the sides. Request a straight line-up at the front and a low shadow beard, nothing heavy.
Upkeep
Every two to three weeks for the box edges. Pick from the roots each morning to rebuild height, moisturize nightly, and sleep in a durag so the box does not flatten on one side.
