Fade
Mid Burst Fade With Piecey Curly Fringe
- Difficulty
- ADVANCED
- Hair Type
- 2C to 3B wavy-curly, medium density
What it is
The fade bursts in a rounded arc around the ear rather than running level, dropping toward the nape and leaving weight behind the crown. On top the curl is left long enough to fall forward into a broken, piecey fringe over the forehead. The temple carries a short edged line, and the fade sits mid-height, opening at eye level and washing to near-skin below the ear. Contrast is soft, with more separation than sharpness.
Who it suits
Suited to loose 2C to 3B curl or a strong natural wave with medium density; too much bulk kills the piecey look. The forward fringe shortens a long forehead and softens a square jaw. Recessive corners hide well under this fringe. Poker straight hair will not give the pieces, and very tight coils will not fall forward.
How to ask for it
Ask for a mid burst fade, arcing around the ear and dropping toward the nape, near skin at the lowest point. Say leave the top long enough to fall forward, point cut so it separates, and keep a soft broken fringe on the forehead. Add a short edge at the temple only, not a hard line.
Upkeep
Three weeks. The burst around the ear loses its arc first. Use a small amount of sea salt spray or light cream, scrunch, and let it air dry for the pieces.
