Taper
Low Taper Fade With Loose Curled Fringe
- Difficulty
- INTERMEDIATE
- Hair Type
- Loose curls, medium to thick
What it is
Loose curls left long through the top and front, falling forward into a soft fringe over the forehead. The weight is carried at the front while the back of the top is left slightly shorter, so the curls move in one direction. The taper sits low, starting just above the ear and running clean down to the nape, with the line staying close to the natural hairline rather than climbing up the side.
Who it suits
For hair with an open S-curl that has enough weight to fall forward on its own. A low taper keeps the sides quiet so the fringe is the focus, and the forward fall softens a high or receding front hairline. Good if you want length you can still run your hands through.
How to ask for it
Ask for a low taper fade: 0.5 at the bottom, blended to a 2, with the line kept just above the ear and following the natural hairline. Leave the top three to four inches, longer at the front, cut with shears and point-cut through the ends so the fringe separates.
Upkeep
Curl cream on damp hair, scrunch and air dry. Trim every four weeks for the top and every three for the taper, so the sides do not start creeping into the fringe.
