What it is
Soft brown curls are left full and springy across the top, cut with scissors so nothing is flattened, and the sides are cleaned into a mid taper that fades to skin around the ear and up the back. The taper line sits just under the curl mass, which lets the top keep all of its bounce while the ears and neck stay tidy. The front hairline is edged lightly, so curls still fall forward at the temple.
Who it suits
A friendly cut for kids with loose to medium curls that grow out wide. Taking the sides down keeps the shape from spreading while leaving all the curl on top, which means no combing battles at home. Comfortable in summer, easy to towel dry, and it still looks intentional three or four weeks after the appointment.
How to ask for it
Ask for the curls left long on top and scissor-cut only, no clippers above the taper line. Request a mid taper starting at the temple, faded to skin around the ear and blended up with a 1 and a 2. Ask for a soft light edge at the front, not a hard line.
Upkeep
A cut every four weeks holds the shape and keeps the taper tidy. Dampen the curls, use a small amount of curl cream, and air dry. Detangle with fingers or a wide-tooth comb only when wet.
