Kids Curly Burst Fade With Soft Mohawk Strip
- Difficulty
- INTERMEDIATE
- Hair Type
- Springy natural curls, kids
What it is
Natural curls left full through the middle and back of the head, with a burst fade curving around the ear on each side so the length reads as a soft mohawk strip. The fade radiates outward from the ear in an arc, staying short at the sideburn and rising back into the curls at the crown. Curls are left uncut at the front, and the hairline is lined lightly across the forehead with a small squared temple corner.
Who it suits
A good fit for kids with springy natural curls who want something with shape but not much daily fuss. Because the fade stays low around the ear, it grows out softly instead of leaving a hard line. Fine for school dress codes in most places. Ask your barber to keep the front curls long if your child likes them falling forward.
How to ask for it
Ask the barber for a burst fade mohawk on natural curls. Have the burst arc around the ear starting at skin or a 0.5 and blending up to a 2 as it meets the curls, leaving the centre strip uncut. Request a soft line-up at the front hairline, nothing severe, with the temple corner just squared.
Upkeep
Damp the curls each morning and work in a small amount of kids curl cream. A satin pillowcase cuts overnight frizz. Trim the burst every three to four weeks to keep the arc clean.
