What it is

This is a working solution for a heavy horseshoe recession: the remaining hair is left short across the crown and back, then blended down to skin at the temples so the receded corners disappear into the fade instead of standing out. Below the ear the beard picks up, squared off along a hard cheek line and dropped into a boxed jaw with volume at the chin. The beard becomes the frame the hairline can no longer provide.

Who it suits

Aimed squarely at advanced recession or a horseshoe pattern where a traditional line-up is no longer possible. Needs enough beard density to square off cleanly. Flatters wide and full faces, since the boxed chin brings the eye down and out. Anyone with a solid hairline is better served by an actual high fade with a real line-up.

How to ask for it

Tell your barber not to chase the hairline. Ask for the crown and back run with a 1, temples faded down to skin, and the recession blended away instead of outlined. For the beard, ask for a straight cheek line and the jaw boxed square with the chin left full.

Upkeep

Every two weeks keeps the blend soft. The temple skin work grows back first and looks patchy fast. Keep the cheek line clean at home with a trimmer edge.
