Fade
High Bald Fade with Flat Buzzed Top
- Difficulty
- INTERMEDIATE
- Hair Type
- straight to coily, medium density
What it is
A high bald fade taken up near the parietal ridge, sitting bald at the bottom and blending clean into a short buzzed top that is cut flat across the crown. There is no length variation on top at all, so the whole cut is about the fade gradient and the shape of the head. The front hairline is squared hard with a step at the temple, and the fade runs forward into the beard's cheek line without a break.
Who it suits
Suits straight and slightly coily hair of medium density where a smooth gradient is achievable. Good on round and wide faces because the high fade narrows the sides and adds apparent height. Requires a well-shaped skull with no visible dips. Very fine hair will show scalp on the flat top and lose the contrast.
How to ask for it
Ask for a high bald fade with the fade line just below the crown, bald at the bottom and blending up over about two inches. Say a 1 on top cut flat, a hard squared line-up at the front with a step at the temple, and the fade connected into the beard.
Upkeep
Ten to fourteen days. The bald section fills in fastest and the gradient goes muddy. Nothing to do at home beyond keeping the neckline clean.
