Even Buzz Cut With Soft Shape-Up
- Difficulty
- BEGINNER
- Hair Type
- any texture, uniform short
What it is
One length all over, taken down to a short even buzz with no fade line and no contrast between top and sides. The hairline is shaped up only lightly at the temple, leaving a natural front edge rather than a hard block, and the sides carry down into a soft taper that fades out low. A grey-flecked beard is trimmed close and connected to the sideburn.
Who it suits
The most straightforward cut on the board, and a solid choice for thinning or receding hair since the even length hides density changes. Suits anyone who wants to spend zero minutes on hair. It works with a beard particularly well, since the beard carries the shape the hair no longer does.
How to ask for it
Ask for a 1 all over, no fade, no guard changes. Request a light shape-up at the temples and front hairline, kept soft rather than sharply squared. Ask for a low taper at the nape so the back doesn't sit as a hard line, and the beard trimmed to a 2 with the cheek line cleaned.
Upkeep
Every two to three weeks, or run it yourself with a 1 guard. Wash simply, keep the scalp moisturised, and brush the beard with a light oil to stop it looking dry.
