Fade
Short Coil Cut With Mid Bald Fade
- Difficulty
- INTERMEDIATE
- Hair Type
- tight coils, short
What it is
The top is kept as a dense mat of short coils, cut level and even so the texture reads without any real length, and the sides fall away into a bald fade with the transition sitting mid-head, around the top of the ear. The front hairline is shaped up with a squared temple corner and a straight edge across the forehead. Everything below the fade line is clean skin.
Who it suits
For tightly coiled hair kept short. A strong everyday choice when you want the texture on top visible but the sides completely clean. Because the top length is even and low, it stays neat through a work week without brushing, and it suits most head shapes.
How to ask for it
Ask for a 1.5 on top, cut even, and a mid bald fade with the line starting level with the top of the ear and dropping to skin. Blend the corner over the ear so there's no shelf. Finish with a shape-up at the front and temples, and a faded neckline.
Upkeep
Two weeks to hold the bald line. Moisturise the top daily with a light leave-in so the coils don't dry out, and cover at night if you want the texture to sit flatter.
