What it is
Coils left tall through the top and crown, worn as a raised block with the sides taken very close underneath. A carved part runs from the front hairline back above the ear, cut in with a trimmer as a clean line through the short section. The taper below that part is faded down close to the skin at the temple and softens again toward the nape. Lighter tones through the top make the curl definition read clearly.
Who it suits
Suits tight coils with real height, since the contrast between the tall top and the near-bare side is the whole point. The carved part gives the cut a fixed reference line, which helps if you want the same shape reproduced every visit. Best if you are comfortable with a graphic, high-contrast cut.
How to ask for it
Ask for the top left full, two inches or more, shaped with shears. Take the sides down to a 0.5 blending to a 1.5, kept low. Ask for a carved part starting at the front hairline and running back above the ear, cut with the trimmer corner and about a quarter inch wide.
Upkeep
Refresh the top with water and curl cream each morning and pick at the roots for height. Every two weeks for the sides and recarving the part, which blurs first as the short hair grows.
