Kids Wave Cut With Mid Drop Fade
- Difficulty
- INTERMEDIATE
- Hair Type
- short coily, wave-trained
What it is
Slightly more length is left on top than a standard cut, brushed so the waves ripple back from the front hairline, and the sides come down as a drop fade that curves behind the ear and finishes tight at the nape. The front hairline is lined up straight with a defined temple corner. Overall the cut hugs the head and shows the wave pattern from the side.
Who it suits
For a child with coily hair whose parent is willing to brush a few minutes a day, since the pattern is the point. The drop shape rounds off the back of the head, so it suits a flatter nape. It also keeps hair out of the eyes entirely, which helps for sports and school.
How to ask for it
Ask for a 1.5 on top brushed with the grain, and a drop fade taken to a 0.5 that curves down behind the ear and follows the head to the nape. Ask for the fade line to sit around the middle of the ear, not higher. Finish with a straight shape-up at the front.
Upkeep
Every two to three weeks. Brush after a shower while the hair is damp, add a light moisturiser, and cover at night to help the waves lay.
