Induction Skin Fade With Squared Front
- Difficulty
- INTERMEDIATE
- Hair Type
- Short fine hair, thinning or greying
What it is
Hair taken almost to the scalp across the top with a very short guard, then faded into bare skin through the sides and back. Only the faintest shadow of length remains up top, so the cut lives entirely on head shape and the quality of the blend. The front hairline is cut with a hard squared corner at the temple, which is the one graphic element in an otherwise stripped-down cut. The beard is trimmed short and connected.
Who it suits
A practical choice for hair that is thinning or receding, since it removes the contrast that makes thin spots obvious. Also suits anyone with grey coming in, as it reads even at this length. Works best with a strong jaw and a beard to balance the bare scalp.
How to ask for it
Ask for a skin fade with a 0.5 or bare clipper on top. Have the barber take the sides and back to skin and blend up high, keeping the shadow line soft. Request a hard squared line-up at the front temple corner and a short connected beard trimmed at a 1.
Upkeep
Growth shows in days at this length. Book weekly, or keep a clipper and foil shaver at home to run the sides down between visits. Sunscreen on the scalp if you are outside.
